Introduction to the job

Have you just graduated or due to graduate soon? This is a unique opportunity to launch your career in an inspiring and collaborative high-tech environment! We have multiple job opportunities for recent graduates with an (almost) finished Masters, that enjoy creating value out of data.

By joining the Technical Graduate Program, you will start in a full-time, paid job while receiving the ideal combination of ‘doing’ and ‘learning’ that builds the fundamentals needed for a (technical) career at ASML.

Role and responsibilities

ASML is leading in the worldwide development, production and sale of high-end lithography systems for the semiconductor industry. We make machines that help make chips. Over the last 5 years, our turnover has doubled to over 18 billion and continues to grow. Due to this immense growth, we are building new factories and warehouses, hiring new employees and everything else that comes with such expansion. Next to that, the installed base number of our machines at customers is increasing, and a new types of machines are introduced. These present challenging times where we are able to push the boundaries further. This large growth also means that processes are not fully matured.

In this position as a business analyst it is your role to turn ‘foggy’ data into clear insights that are used to further drive business decisions. Think of projects such as gathering insights about how long the maintenance of the machines takes and how to shorten this, or insights about the quality of parts in the machine itself. Dependent on the project, this process consist of several steps where you will work together with a project lead and product owner, such as:
1. Insight generation. To start the project it is important to first fully understand the business case and formulate a problem statement with value case together with the technical and non-technical (cross-sector) stakeholders. After this you, collect (un)structured data from various different sources, such as SAP or the machine. This is then used to build a data model that captures the constraints of the problem in a tool such as Alteryx. The data model will give you one or multiple data sets which you are able to use to visualize the business case in a dashboard in Spotfire.
2. Test the proto dashboard. An important part of the development of new models is testing it properly. You will do this together with the stakeholders to validate whether the model answers the questions from the business case.
3. Industrialization. If the proto is successful, the product owner develops, together with the developers, a full running dashboard that will structurally be enriched with new data. The role of you as a data analyst is to support the developers in recreating your prototype into a sustainable solution.
4. After a successful project it will be handed over to the value office. They will track the enabled value by the stakeholders based on the business case using the dashboard. They will also support the stakeholders in new improvement actions that can be set up using the insights created by the dashboard.
